How to sign a PDF

Handwritten signature or certified electronic signature
What this tool does is a handwritten signature put onto a document, as with a pen on paper: that is what the great majority of ordinary contracts, certificates and purchase orders expect. It is not a qualified electronic signature in the sense of the European eIDAS regulation or the US ESIGN Act, which rests on a certificate issued by a trust service provider and proves the signatory’s identity. If your document demands that level of proof — a notarial deed, a public tender — you need a qualified provider. For everything else, signing here is enough.
Stopping the signature being moved afterwards
For as long as the signature stays an annotation, it can be moved or removed by whoever receives the file. Flattening brings it into the page: it becomes part of the document, on the same footing as the printed text. That is the gesture to make just before sending, and it is also the one that freezes the values of a completed form.

Is this a certified electronic signature?

Can I sign on a phone?

Can I reuse my signature on another document?
Not without drawing it again: it is kept nowhere, not even on your device — it is drawn into the document and exists only there. That is the opposite of most online signing services, which keep it on their servers. Drawing it again takes five seconds.
How do I stop someone moving my signature afterwards?
Run the document through flattening before you send it: the signature becomes part of the page and can no longer be picked up. Without that, the recipient can still move it.
