Merge PDFs

Merge several PDFs into one document, in the order you set. The merge happens inside your browser, however many pages there are — and the resulting file opens straight away in the editor.

How to merge PDFs

Choose your files — several at once, or added as you go — put them in the order you want by dragging them, and download the single document. Each page keeps its own size, its orientation and its quality: nothing is re-laid out and nothing is recompressed, and an A4 portrait can sit next to an A3 landscape without trouble. Internal links travel with their pages. Combine, assemble, join, group — it is all the same action, and here it has neither a limit on the number of files nor a size cap imposed by a server, since the merge is computed by your browser. The resulting document opens straight away in the editor, so you can carry on: reorder the pages, number them all, compress before sending. Files arrive in the order you choose them, and that order changes by dragging them before the merge.

Assembling a case file

That is the main use: an application, a tenancy file, a tax return, a dissertation made of scattered pieces. The right order is better prepared on the page organizer, which shows pages rather than file names. Think about page numbers next: a merged file whose pages carry no number gets lost the moment it is printed. And if one of the pieces is password-protected, unlock it before merging.

Frequently asked questions

How many files can I merge?

As many as your device can carry. There is no quota, no queue, and no paid tier that kicks in past a certain number.

Can I change the order of the files?

Yes, before the merge: drag them into place. Afterwards, the page organizer still lets you rearrange everything.

Are bookmarks and links preserved?

Links yes: they travel with their page. Bookmarks no: one document’s outline does not add itself to another’s. The Bookmarks panel can rebuild it from the merged document’s headings, in one action.

Do pages keep their original sizes?

Yes, each keeps its size and its orientation. To bring the whole document to a single size, go through the resizing tool afterwards.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

Open it first with its password: it is then decrypted on your device and merges like the others. Without the password, nobody can read it, so nobody can add it to anything.

Merge, combine, join, put together: is it the same tool?

Yes. Bringing two quotes together, combining scans, assembling a case file, appending an annex: whatever the word, this is the action — several files, one document, in the order you decide.
