How to crop a PDF
Open the document, lay the crop frame straight on the page, adjust its edges, then apply it to that page alone or to the whole document. The white margins of a scan, the dead zone of a page that runs too wide, the printer’s marks on a layout file all disappear, and the page size shrinks by as much: the document reads better on a phone or e-reader screen, where every millimeter of margin is lost. Cropping alters neither quality nor resolution: it redefines the page’s visible area, without recomposing the content. Content falling outside the frame is no longer displayed or printed; if the point were to remove every trace of it, redaction is the tool you need. Nothing is sent to a server. The same frame applies to every page at once, and that is where most of the time is saved on a scan.
Cropping or resizing
Cropping cuts: the page becomes smaller and you lose what sticks out. Resizing scales: the page changes size — A4, A3, Letter, Legal — and the content is reduced or enlarged to fit inside, losing nothing. To remove a stray margin before printing, you crop. To send to a printer that takes only A4, you resize.
